Southern New Zealand was hit by a 7.1-magnitude temblor in September last year. This Tuesday, February 22nd. was hit by a series temblor again. But the earth quake struck shallower below ground from Christchurch. The death toll has risen to 102 reported in the Friday morning. And hundreds of aftershocks followed.
A lot of buildings crumbled into the streets, more people are feared dead, and the rescuers continue to find survivors. One of my friend and her family are living there. I contact her in the Tuesday morning. They are all right, but some areas are still power off and the telephone lines were.
This is the worse natural disaster in New zealand for 80 years. The national rescue crews have been dispatched from all over the world to help with rescue.

My Best Friend
No matter who you are, no matter where you be, no matter what you do. You always need friends. Elisa is my best friend. We have known each other for more than eight years.
Actually, we were colleges before seven years, we reported for duty at the same time in the same company. We were trained together, and worked in the same department. Since that, we became good friends. We usually go shopping or see movies after work. It was really a happy time. After 18 months, both of us resigned our commission. But we still keep in touch. Two yeas ago, I was looking for a job. Elisa commended me to her boss, and we became colleges again. I sometimes feel depressed, I will talk with her, and she will give me another idea to solve the problem. We also share happiness and girl’s stuff. When I need help, she will give me a hand right away. Last year, she passed the examination, and enroll Lunghwa University of Science and Technology. Sometimes we practice English in the free time.
There is an old saying that goes,”Books and friends should be few but good.” Having good friends is better than having a lot of friends.

Chinese New Year 2011
Chinese New Year also called Chinese Lunar New Year, which is the most important one of the traditional Chinese holidays. During these days, I could stay away from work and the boss. Actually, it is my favorite holiday.
There are six holidays of 2011 Chinese New Year, and the weather is extremely cold and rainy. I went back to Taoyuan before the first day of the month. When I arrived home, my sister in law was cleaning the house. I started to help her. We finished in the afternoon. We clean for a brand new atmosphere for the next year. Then, my mother, my brother and sister in law went to the wholesale store to buy some food and commodities. Approach to the evening, my sister in law prepared Chinese new year's eve dinner for us. In the evening, we enjoyed the dinner and see the DVD together. We always stay up late during the holidays, we would watch TV, play games, eat snacks and hot pot. In the morning of the first day, we went to a famous temple in Taoyuan, and pray to God to bless happy and healthy.

Reading Response: Grace
There are many books and movies which are about the child abuse or the domestic violence. It is often seen on the evening news. Child abuse is including the neglect of children, physical abuse, sexual abuse, psychological, and emotional mistreatment.
The book is about a sixteen-year-old girl, Grace, who has been sexual abuse by her stepfather, and ran away from home. She met Eric who helped her during the depression. Eric accommodated and accompanied her. Eric is a diffidence boy. After they met each other, he became brave and strong. He gave her all, everything seems perfect. One day, the police came to their cabin and led away Grace. Two days after, Grace was beat to death of her stepfather. The author not only describes the brotherhood but also the parent-child relationship.
I observed this book in a book store, and I borrowed it from the library after several months. It is a really attractive novel. Child abuse scars for ever. In the present society, how many social questions and family questions among us. We should focuse on this issue.
Taipei International Flora Exposition News
Taipei international flora exposition is the largest domestic event during these months. We could see the news on TV or newspaper almost everyday. There are four exposition area, Yuanshan Park Area, Fine Arts Park Area, Xinsheng Park Area, and Dajia Riverside Park Area. The most popular one is Xinshen Park Area.
There are varied shows and different kinds of flowers in the period. The organizer, Taipei City Government, and sponsors and are all concerned about the volume of the visitors. The organizer issues the visitor volume every day, the maximum day is in the January 3rd in Lunar. Because it was a sunny day, and was among the long holiday. There were over one hundred thousand visitors whe went to the Taipei international flora exposition in that day.
