There are many different kinds of environmental pollution which were caused by human beings. Such as air pollution, water pollution, garbage pollution, and deforestation. In modern cities, the coverage becomes more obvious and more extensive.
Scientists and environmental researchers began to be concerned about it. One of the most important and serious is the air pollution. Air pollution can seriously affect the personal health, ecosystems and society. Pollution results from human activities and industrial productions. In recent years, scientists reveal that the pollution will effect the whole world. For example, people burned coal in England, produced carbon dioxide, it will cause harm of the people’s health. Air pollution is the main reason that the lung cancer mortality continue raising. London is the notorious city for the air pollution. People who live in London with heart and lung problems can be at risk.

Another important one is water pollution. Although the earth is 70% covered by water, but there are less than 1% of fresh water resources can be used.
Fresh water often be polluted by the human activities, including domestic, industrial sewage and agricultural sewage. Polluted water will cause the death of aquatic living, and spread of infectious diseases; indeed, reduce the production of crops.

Air pollution and water pollution cause several serious problems worldwide.
The situation becomes worse and worse. Individual and government must find ways to slow the rate of these pollutions before that is too late.

The Alternative Energy Sources: Solar Energy

In my opinion, solar energy will be more widely used in the near future. As most of people have known that the sun is a renewable and easily receive energy source. And the natural scientists infer that the sun will expected to shine for 5 billion years at least. The solar energy is non pollution and productive. But one of the most effected drawbacks is too expensive. It cost too much to produce the energy. The next drawback is been limited by terrain and climate. Furthermore, it is inefficiency a cloudy day or a rainy day. Scientists are devoted to cost savings. Solar energy will be wide use in near future.

After rain comes sunshine

Money is not everything, however, you can not do anything without money. The idiom we have already heard. There are some impressions about my family environment.
My father who was a business man owned three shops at the same time, we do not have to worried about money since we were born. There are three children in my family, we live in plenty. We always get the latest toys or comic books. But my father was ungratified, besides the daily business income, he put the money into the unknown investment with his friends. Rapidly, he lost all his property and to be in debt. My parents sold out two shops and barrowed some money from the relatives. My father can not accept this situation, and he was very depressed everyday. This was the most difficult period of his life. Almost at the same time, he was checked suffered from cancer. He had an operation and received the chemotherapy. But he was a not good patient, and he did not follow the doctor’s advice. His condition became worse and worse. He passed away in two years, I was seventeen that year. It was really hard to a teenager to understand.
My mother had to undertake the responsibility immediately, no matter the debts or children. I wanted to reduce my mother’s press. I got a part time job after class. I earned the money for schooling and living expenses. My brother got a great job in a airline company. He also help my mother share the responsibility. After I graduated from college, I got a job in the customer service department of the bank. My job contains customers’ information, problem solving, and to deal with complains. This is not my favorite work, but I can get good salary and shift allowance. After four years, our family financial status becomes relieved, and allowing us to live better lives.
Money is just something that belongs to the material world, you can not keep it forever. It is very important to have a correct financial concept, its help to make a apropos plan and avoid the crisis.

How to Relax at the End of a Difficult Day

It is inexistent that the life is without pressure. In other words, the pressure is a reaction to the challenges. Losing the goal or challenge, people will be bored and will not make any progress. In this modern life, everyone feels different kinds of stress. The three main causes of pressure are work, living, and personality. At work, you might be an employee, a manager, or a colleague. After work, you become a wife or a husband, parents, even someone’s friend. We would like to give consideration to both sides, therefore, we get more and more pressures.

Whenever I have pressure , I will try all available methods to relax myself. There are many method of relieve the stress, such as meditative, exercise, massage, eating…etc. The effective way is different from person to person. In my way, I usually find a friend who can share my worries, and express my feelings. The next choice is listening to the music or singing out loud. And the last one, my favorite one, is exercise.

According to a research , exercise is significantly beneficial to relieve the stress. When we are doing the exercise, our body naturally produces chemical which is called endorphins. It was discovered to improve the state of melancholy or anxiety. Doing exercise could shift the focus, and relieve the stress.
Here are three simple exercises, you can do it everywhere and anytime.
deep breathing : take deep breath for 5-10 minutes everyday,
this movement might relax your body and adjust breath.

relaxes muscles:
We can stretch our body to relax the muscles. From our toes to shoulder, try to hold each stretch for 20seconds. Stretching has many benefits. It helps circulation and relaxes our muscles, and that relaxes our mind. We can do it every night before sleep.

Swing arms:
Open both feet with the shoulder and wide, the weight is put in the middle of the body, The body is rocked back and forth naturally. Then stretch your arms forward to shoulder, and swing backward drastically. First, we might do it about 20-50 times a day, and increase the number gradually. At the most to 200 times. Besides, walk quickly everyday, even only for 15 minutes, it is a form of physical exercise.

As long as I hold the optimistic and positive attitude toward myself. Trying to sit with a peaceful mind, and to quiet down will make we think more clearly. Hoping we can find a good solution to reduce pressure.

Living in a Big City

It is very different from life in a city and in villages. I was born and grow up in the city, I enjoy the bright tempo, and convenient. It is quite easy that purchase in a big city, and also a kind of pleasure in the city life. Nevertheless, the environmental pollution is one of the most serious problems effect mankind. The polluted air would cause illness, and even death.

Music and I

There are varied kinds of music, which one do you like the most? Jazz, popular music, classical music, blues and so on. My favorite is popular music and blue. Every time I feel depressed or bored, I would listen to the music. Besides, I usually listen to the classical music while I am studying. It makes me feel peaceful and immersed. Without music, our lives would become insipid. Music surround us. Without music, our life would become lifeless.

My Partner, My Dog, My Do-do

Do-do was born in my home. His mother delivered three puppies in the evening. He was the smallest one in his brothers and sisters. After they were three months old, we sent other puppies to my relations except Do-do. Do-do was very mischievous and active. When I spoke to him, he always looked at me with his big cute eyes and wagged his tail. He always accompanied me, no matter I was happy or depressed. Two years ago, he was very sick. He died after I came home. I really miss him until now.

Christmas Party

Christmas is a special holiday for Christians. It is a religious festival. I am not a Christian, but I enjoy the joyful atmosphere. Some associations hold the festivities of Christmas. For example, there is a Christmas party on the Christmas Eve. We will exchange the gifts and send Christmas cards, or sing songs. There are many ways of making Christmas season.

My Regular Working Days

Although I am very busy in the office, there is still some routine in my daily activity. I get up at 8:00 every morning, I stagger to the bathroom to wash my face, and brush my teeth. As usual I leave to the office at 8:40. I arrive at my office before 9:20, and I will finish my breakfast in 10 minutes. Over 9 hours working, I will feel tired and hungry. I usually off work after 7:00 in the evening. During the dinner, I watch TV or the news. I usually go to bed before midnight, even if on the weekends.

Can You Do Anything in One Day

If a doctor declares you that you have one day left, what will you do? It is really a serious question. According to the cycle of life, all human beings will die. First, I may feel sorrow at the actuality. I may weep. I do not have much time, therefore I have to do something before I die. I think I will stay with my family until the last moment. I will let them know that how much I love them.

My Next Plan for Relaxation

Recently, I have made a decision. After graduating from Lunghwa University of Science and Technology, I will look for a new job. But before I start the new career, I would like to go for a vacation. I planning for a island country, such as Boracay or Bali. I enjoy the SPA and the sun bath there. There are many ways in which people spend their vacations, no matter how I decide to spend our vacations, I will always do the proper planning and preparations before I start off.

Go for a Gastroscopy

Some people are very lucky who seldom be sick, but some of us have to. We go for an physical examinations regularly to prevention illnesses. I have an unusual stomach upset for three months. Every morning, I feel regurgitation. After I eat a meal, I also feel regurgitation. I decide to go for a gastroscopy. I am very nervous and I hope the result of examination will be ok.

My Way

There are many people who though not so talented as others. But they are always persistent, attentive. Finally, they can surpass more brilliant competitors. One year ago, I had determined to study English at Lunghwa University of Science and Technology. Sometimes I feel tired and want to give up, but I keep my faith to reach my goal. The power of the human will is amazing. I am not the one of the talented, so I study hard, and always look at the bright side of the things. Someday somehow I will be somebody!

Using the Cell Phone

I can not imagine if my life without the cell phone. It is an important instrument for me. I can call anyone, anywhere in the world without having to look for a land line phone. While I am waiting for the bus or train, I could chat with my friends by the cell phone. While I am taking the MRT, I could play the constructed games or surf the internet. Indubitably, it really proves usefulness while in emergencies. For instance, in a fire or in a traffic accident. The cell phone has become an indispensable instrument in the modern century.

During the Winter Days

Winters in Taipei are very cold during the evening and night. Recently, the temperature is getting lower and lower. I prefer autumn and winter. I always look forward to their approaching. Winter is the time when everyone is in a festive mood. I think it is because of Chinese New Year. I usually stay at home, or go to friend’s place. We usually read books, watch TV, or eat hot pot. I like to eat red bean soup which can warm up my body during the winter. Because of the cold winter weather outside, we would like to stay indoors. This is a nice time of the year.

My Brother’s Baseball Club

My big brother belonged to a baseball club in the senior high school. After he graduated, they are still keeping practice every weekend. Sometimes they attends the communal competition. All of the members love to play baseball, because it is a good exercise and an interesting activity. The members usually come to our place to watch baseball games, no matter the games of Major League Baseball or Chinese professional baseball league. Also, by playing baseball, they get to know each other better through a common interest. My brother seems quite happy to get along with his team members.

2010 Annual Company Outing : Sun Moon Lake

Sun Moon Lake is a really suitable place for vacations and relaxation. It is located in the middien of Taiwan, and be surrounded by mountains. Also, it is the one of the main aborigine settlements. I went to the annual company outing last month. We visited Nantou, Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village and Sun Moon Lake. We stayed there for one night. The weather is delightful and the scenery is beautiful. We had a unforgettable trip. Sun Moon Lake is a year-round resort in Taiwan, I will visit there again.

Sogo Department Store Anniversary Sales

In Taipei, there are many famous department stores in the east area and Ximending. In some large department stores, there are supermarkets, restaurants, and movie theaters.
Every year, the department stores are holding the anniversary sales during October to December. The eye-filling goods are displayed in the window. We usually can get a lower price or special product sets in the sales. You can buy dresses, shoes, accessories, books, children’s toy, and hundreds or other items. We can not avoid being fascinated by them. Go inside the Sogo department store is to step into a wonderland.

Seeing the Movies in Taipei

There are many theaters showing all kinds of movies in Ximending, especially during the summer vacation and winter vacation. We sort movies to variety genres, such as action movies, science fiction movies, romance movies…etc. I prefer drama and adventure movies. The special effects and proper music. I do not like horror movies, which would scare me horribly. Actually, it is really fun to go to the movies with a group of friends on the weekends.

Do Not Overeat When You Are Under Pressure

Some people lose their appetite under stress, but others overeat. Even others take to alcohol, or develop stomach pains, headache or diarrhea. Everyone has weaknesses, though we express in different ways. About my experience, if I am under the stress, I usually go to shopping or overeat. Overeating is a habit. It can be broken, like all habits, it can be substituted by other routines. Recently, I reduce my stress by doing exercise and singing. they really work, and I do not have to worry about my weight or budget.

How to Read a Article by Author's Viewpoint

It is very important in reading that you identify yourself close with the author. In spite of book written with a specific purpose, and the author proceeded toward his destination until his writing journey was completed. Author’s viewpoint is the way an author looks at a topic or the ideas he describes. Whose viewpoint includes the content of the text and the language used to present the data. Readers figure out an author’s point of view, opinions, hypotheses, assumptions, and possible bias.

the Difference between Traditional Sport and Action Sport

In a traditional sporting event, athletes compete against each other under controlled situations. The traditional sporting judgment criteria may be adopted when assessing performance, such as distance, time, and score. For example, these are the traditional sports, volleyball, basketball, baseball, football, fencing, boxing, judo…etc. On the other hand, the action sport, we also called extreme sport and adventure sport, which is a popular term for some activities. An extreme sport is perceived as having a high level of inherent danger. These activities often involve speed, height, and skill. Unforgettable Vacation

Today is the last day in my summer vacation. This is the first and the only one summer vacation in my university life. Time files, two months passed. What did I do during the summer vacation? I have been to many scenic spots in Taiwan. Like Hualien, Keelung, Pinghsi, Dan Shui…
I read some books and novels which are about French literatures and culture. It is really interesting, after getting my degree done, maybe I will take a French courses in my free time.
I have seen many movies, weather the movie is in theaters or the classical movies. And I also do some English homework during the weekends.
The new semester is coming, I will be diligent and study hard to rich my life.

Two days in Hualien

This summer vacation, I went to Hualien with my friends for 2days. First day, we went to Taroko National Park, Seven Stars Pools. The view is very beautiful, the air is so fresh, and the sun is also scorching. In the evening, we had dinner in the South shore night market.




We got up very early in the second morning, because we joined the river tracing. The tracing was exciting and interesting, we can see the beautiful view and clean river, we had a lot of fun during this trip.

Global warming is a serious and challenging problem. Many scientists think that Climate change is the most important one.

Heat waves and unusual warm weather.
Because of the ocean warming, the cyclones become bigger, frequent and more powerful.
There had been several hurricanes slammed into America last year.

Global warming will make ice in the north and south melt.
Since 1978, the arctic cycle have been reducing about 9% every ten years.
And sea level has risen by 10 - 20 cm during the 20th century

There were two islands submerged in India, and over 10000 people were forced to leave their homes.

I went to see the movie, twilight eclipse, with my friend, The film has been modified from its novel version. This is the third episode. This series of movies are very popular in the whole world. I have already read the novel, but I still want to see the movie. The story is about the vampire and their enemy wolf men. They are fall in love with the same girl- Bella, their relationship are complex, and Bella has to make a decision between Edward and Jacob.

The Beautiful Mind

The movie is about John Nash whose mental state point of view. His thesis overthrew the Adam Smith's economic theory, which was unbreakable over the past century, and that changed his life. Because of the thesis, Nash got the research projects and teaching in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It was during the Cold War at that time, he wanted to contribute to the United States. An intelligence officer, William Parcher, invited him to participate in a decoding mission. He fully into the task, but the secret mission has become more and more dangerous. Nash immersed in his fictional world. Because of his unusual behavior, he was diagnosed with schizophrenia. However, his wife, Alicia Nash, was tormented by the abnormal behavior, but she still keeps at his side. Although Nash still has the illusions, he was able to accept that he is a mental patient. After several years of efforts, he returned to teach at Princeton University, and won the Nobel Prize in 1994. His theory has become one of the most influential theories in the twentieth century. It proved that he has not only an outstanding wisdom, but also a beautiful mind.

Even though their background are totally different, but he became a member of the family gradually. Michael lives in the new surroundings, The Tuohys would help Michael to exert himself. The movie is about the Federal officer Teddie and his new partner Chuck went to the island, which is a psychiatric prison. They went there to investigate a mentally disordered female got away from the imprisonment. But Teddie’s main purpose is to find the truth that if patients were experimented on the illegal practices. He doubts that the mentally disordered female could disappear, it is impossible to escape without help. If there are some hidden agenda? After they found the facts, perhaps they can not leave the island. In process, Teddie has some hallucinations, and nightmares. However, they found that things are not as simple as imagined. Eventually, Teddie got to the tower where the body laboratory he thought, and discovered some unknown secret that he is the most dangerous prisoner in the island. The whole story is very detailed and attractive, while sound effects and music also help to create the atmosphere for this creepy theme.

Precious

The movie is actually a very positive film about how to get through these trials of life. You have never touched, but they really exist. Precious is the name of the protagonist, a teenage girl, who is fat and ugly and often be humiliated. But she never give herself up. She is pregnant for the second time to her own father, her mother is an unstable and has bad temper, and maltreats her everyday. Precious is unable to read and write, even though she is going to the eighth grade. Because she gets pregnant again, she was kicked out by the school. After leaving school, she is invited to a special learning school where the classroom is small; nevertheless, she will be able to learn in a better environment. This is such a depressing movie. After seeing this movie, I saw the darkness, suffering and powerlessness of life. On the other hand, you will feel good about yourself, and with a positive outlook on your own life.

The Terminal

The moive is about Viktor Navorski an Eastern European goes to visit New York. When he arrives the airport, a war causes his nation to no longer exist. His passport becomes invalid, and documents are useless. Thus he gets stuck at the airport in New York. While stuck, Viktor sees more of America than he has ever imagined. Throughout the experience he makes friends, a love interest, and a rival. He changes all of their lives, however he constantly has trouble with airport supervisor. After six monthes, Viktor’s country’s war stops, his passport becomes effective. Eventually, he can enter into New York. Tom Hanks performs so well, the cast is excellent with Hanks making all those better.

Reading Strategy

There are varieties of reading strategies, I prefer the mind mapping. It is using a picture or an image of a literary text. When we are reading, we can use the pictures, symbols, shapes, colors, and line styles to understand the main points or the traits of each character. You can create an image picture in your mind from the book, during and after reading. The picture is evoked by descriptive details. This method could support your comprehension of the text book. These pictures came into your mind as you read this paragraph and selection.

And the other strategy is the Author’s viewpoint. The literature is written by the way which the author’s opinions or ideas. This includes the content of the text and the language used to present the data. We can try to decipher an author’s point of view, opinions, hypotheses, assumptions, and possible bias, in order to identify the validity of information contained in the text.
Through good reading strategies, we will analyze the text easily

Funeral Ceremony

The second stage is also called the funeral ceremony. The pastor presides over the ceremony . Christianity without taboos. Attendees at a funeral wear formal clothing, such as a suit and tie for men or a dress for women. The most traditional color is black.Atmosphere is not so sad, there are no loud tears. They believe that they will see the deceased again in the heaven.

Funeral Ceremony for the close relatives or friends can be a very nice way of saying your final farewell. The Funeral may take place at either a funeral home or church.
At the beginning, Leads by the pastor to read the religious texts, it may include prayers, or songs to remember the deceased.The eulogy is a very appropriate way of celebrating the deceased 's life. A relative or close friend will be asked to give a eulogy, which is a short talk of happy memories and accomplishments. It may be sad, or warm. Of course, it can also be humorous. At the visitation the body of the deceased is placed on display in the casket . Finally, go to the cemetery

For most Christians, death is not a taboo subject, and they believe that God makes meaningful arrangements . Dying is one of the events in life certain to occur. The meaning of the funeral is to remember the deceased, comfort the families and friends, and bring consolations and hope.

Stinking Tofu

Stinking tofu, a well-know Taiwanese snack, is made of fermented tofu. Although Stinking tofu smells stench, but it tastes delicious. The most familiar kind is deep-fried stinking tofu. We can eat stinking tofu in the night market, as well as the specialty shop. There are many ways to cook the stinking tofu. Such as steamed stinking tofu, spicy stinking tofu, braised stinking tofu with vegetables, fried stinking tofu with seafood , and roast stinking tofu. In Taiwanese custom, We eat it either alone or mixed with soup or fried. When we eat deep-fried stinking tofu, we usually eat with kimchi. My favorite one is spicy stinking tofu which contains a lot of mushrooms, shrimps, grinded meat, red pepper and garlic. I really like this typical of snack.

Dear John

John dropped out of school and enlisted in the Army, One time, during his vacation go back home, he meets the girl, Savannah. They are attracted by each other. Immediately, they fall in love. After two weeks they be together, John has to go back to the force. Savannah is waiting for John to finish his tour of duty, and she completes her college education. Tokyo backpacking

I went to Japan Tokyo backpacking with my friends for five days,
We took airplane for 4 hours. when we arrived there, we take Metro to our hotel.
Our hotel is very close to the Metro station, that is really convenient.
Transportation cost and board and lodging cost is higher than Taiwan.
The first impression of the destination is the budlings are grand and advanced
First day, we went to several tourist attractions like Disney land which is a huge park with several different major part and interesting shows. We spent all day playing in the Disney land, It was really fun.
Then we went to Tokyo Tower , to see the view.
Second day, we went to Tokyo Budo Kan in Kokyo to watch the competition of Japanese Kendo.
In the evening, we went department store for shopping in Shibuya.
Next day, we went to some famous temple. And took a lot of pictures there.
The weather in Japan is cool and arid , and the public transportation in Tokyo is well develop, convenient and fast.
So taking the subway is the best transportation for the tourists in Tokyo.
The local life style is really convenient and speedy. I saw many kinds of vending machine on the road-side,
Like tabacco, drinks, sandwiches, sushi, and even flowers.

Morning people and night people

There are vary differences between our sleeping needs and habits. For example, some people need a lot of sleep, and others might feel enough to get five or six hours a night. Morning people follow the idiom of “early to bed, early to rise,” and go to bed about 9:00 p.m. They feel energetic after a full night's sleep and function best before noon during week days. Others prefer to stay up late and sleep away the morning who called night people. They might only get less than five hours of sleep a night, but they feel that they function better at night and are often very productive during the evening hours. Night people are often tired and cranky in the morning. They always out of action when morning people feel invigorative. In reality, There are a few disadvantages to morning people. For example, more than half stores and companies are not available during the early hours when a morning person is at his or her best. Morning people also have to go to bed very early in the evening, he may miss some late night activities with his friends. To sum up, morning people may have time to exercise in the morning and enjoy a leisurely breakfast in the morning, opposite people who do not have to get up early can sleep away the morning.

My brothers

I have two brothers, my older brother is Felix ,he is two years older than me. He works in the maintenance department of China Airlines. He works very hard, he studies English in his free time, and he is preparing to be a polit . I am so proud of him. He got merrid for two years. My sister in law is a friendly person who is a nurse. I always ask her about health care questions, and sharing cosmetics to each other.And I have another brother who is three years younger then me. We looks like each other. Some people do not know us will believe that we are twins! He lives in Taichoung by him self . He is preparing the test of the official. Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, my name is Vicky, I am so happy to be here, and I would like to share my eprence of losing weights with you. By the end of this talk, you will know about it. Can you believe that there were 72 kilograms on my body........That sounds an unbelieveable weight for a teenage girl. When I was in the college, I enjoyed eating delicious food, and also junk food, epecially pearl milk tea. I ate three times a day, besides, when I was nothing to do, I ate. Someday, I saw myself in the mirror, and I was shocked, especially by my bottom. After that, I decide to lose weight.
First, I quite all junk fook. Second, I ate a meal a day. That is really not a good way for our body, but it works. Third, I eercise everyday in my free time, such as jogging, swinnimg.....NeXt, I do not watch TV anymore, because when I was sitting in a couch in front of the television, I started to eat.
I kept doing these four points for several years, and now I return to normal, although there are still some over wieghts have to cut down. I am going to do more eXercise, and eat less. I must reach my goal before this summer vacation. Thank you for your listening.

The Little Prince went to different planets, and met several kinds of people. People who he met were grownups, they talked about golf, politics, and some other reasonable things. The Little Prince visited and talk with them, the conversation revealed the children's innocence and adults' sophistication. No doubt, he also came to Earth, which is the biggest planet he has visited. The journey enlarged his eyeslight. The fax he met told him something essential to our life, then he realized the relationship between him and his beloved flower. A Sunny Day At The Beach

People love to go to the beach in sunny days, sunlight is very bright, and the sky does not have the cloud. Hundreds of people play, walk, talk, sunbathe and go surfing at the beach. When I was a child, my parents took us to the beach every summer vacation. We played volleyball, frisbee, and mound a sand castte. In the evening, we just sit on the bench, and appreciated the beautiful sunset, enjoyed the sea breeze through the face. Everyone had a great time at the beach.
